Your First Visit

At our first meeting we will go through the details of paperwork, payments, confidentiality and scheduling as I want to make sure that all of your questions are answered about the logistics of our working relationship.

I will then invite you to tell me what brought you to therapy and what expectations you have for the process and of me as your provider. I'll ask questions to learn about your background and to begin to get a sense of who you are as an entire person, not just your symptoms. We will discuss your goals for treatment so that we can both be assured that we are on the same page. I'll then share some information about myself and my practice philosophies so that you are able to get a sense of who I am as a provider and a person. It is imperative that we both feel that the relationship between us can be one of respect, safety, openness and success.

There is no hard and fast timeline for how long someone will attend therapy for. Rather, I encourage individuals to be open about if they are needing to take a break from treatment or if they would like to further explore new ideas or issues.

Most clients attend sessions on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. I do my best to be flexible with a client's needs and find that clients offer the same respect.
